LAWYER
                        HAMIDUL HAQ

is an Arabic word which means Preserver of Rights. If it is so , in fact as it is, Hamidul Huq was a man worthy of his name.

he was also born in the month of January in 1901 in a respectable Muslim family of Ramnagar in Feni. He was the youngest son of his father and so favorite to his parents. But alas! he lost his father in 1908 at the age of 7, only to be cared and reared by his accomplished mother.

He was a Zaminder, a lawyer, a writer, a journalist, a diplomat, a politician—all mingled in one in him to make him worthy of his name. As a Zaminder, he appreciated the steps taken to preserve the rights of the subjects, as a lawyer he always fought against the wrong-doers to establish rights and truth, as a writer and journalist, he advocated the cause of rightful claim of the people; as a politician, he was always with the preserver of rights of the people; and as a diplomat in foreign land he was always vocal to establish rightful claim and correct stand for his country.

Mr. Huq Chowdhury got married in 1933. He had .two sons and seven daughters during 42 years of their conjugal life.

Mr Hamidul huq Choudhury had his early education in Dhaka Collegiate School and then at Feni High school from where he passed matriculation examination with distinction 1915.

After passing the matriculation examination , he enrolled himself in presidency collage calcutta in 1. Sc. Class . He was good in Mathematics, Physics but very week in Bengali as he said in his book "Memoirs", However, a pandit was engaged to teach Bengali and a Hafiz to give him theological education. He was successful because of his inherent talent and merit. He had break in continuation of his education for quite a some time, because of his family problem. However, he got his graduation in science and prosecuted higher education in law to be a lawyer .

During his career as a lawyer, he come in contact with many towering personalities of that time like C.R. Dutta, A.K. Fazlul Huq , S.N Baneijee and Hussain Shahid Suhrawardy. He had occasion to work as a junior to A.K. Fazlul Huq for sometimes to grown himself as a lawyer . He had the qualities of leadership in him. Being tall and handsome and having influencing courage to speak the truth against heavy odds, he was a man never to be deterred by fear and favor.

He had first experience as journalist in 1937. He was then gradually drawn in politics. He worked hard for economic development of the province of the-then East Pakistan. To this effect, was drawn. His book-let entitled "The Industrialization of Bengal” bears testimony to the fact.

He had firm will and useful sense of judgment. He was very officious in nature , aristocratic in attitude and sophisticated in faith . He was uncompromising in his belief , for which he had live a banished life for some years in Pakistan .

Before we conclude we can follow the golden rules of human behavior by saying "Be generous with praise and cautions with criticism. Mr Hamidul Huq Chowdhury had in him all the qualities of greatness of real goodness with all his faults and follies. So we conclude with the words of the great English Poet Sir William Shakespeare "Brutus thon art great, but who so great that can not be seduced?"
